Osun election: 1.9 million eligible voters set for Saturday’s poll — INEC
by Francis Ezediuno · Daily PostThe Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that out of the total 2,339,233 registered voters in Osun State, 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, have been collected by eligible voters across the state.
In a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, on Thursday, the commission said details of PVC collection in each polling unit had been made available to the public.

“A table of the PVCs collected, polling unit by polling unit, has been published on the Commission’s website,” Haruna said.
According to the commission, “the number of collected PVCs represents 81.50 per cent of all registered voters, while 426,842 uncollected cards, representing 18.50 per cent, have been secured with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with its established procedures.”
The commission also announced that some voters, who reported their cards as damaged, defaced or missing had applied for replacements ahead of the election.
INEC stated that a total of 6,101 applicants successfully printed downloadable copies of their replacement PVCs to enable them participate in the election.
The commission reaffirmed its preparedness for the governorship election, assuring stakeholders of a transparent electoral process.
“We reassure political parties, civil society organisations, the media and the good people of Osun State of our total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election on Saturday, 15 August 2026,” Haruna stated.
INEC urged eligible voters who had collected their PVCs to turn out peacefully and participate in the election across the state’s polling units on Saturday.
