IGP deploys specialised tactical teams to Benue ahead 2026 Easter celebration

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of 14 units drawn from 16 Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons, alongside 250 personnel from specialised tactical teams, to reinforce the Benue State Police Command ahead of the 2026 Easter celebration.

This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet.

She said this strategic deployment is aimed at strengthening ongoing security operations and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state during the festive period. The deployed personnel have been integrated with the state command’s tactical teams and other security agencies, with a focus on dominating the hinterlands, vulnerable communities, and key public spaces.

Edet added that the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, while commending the IGP for the timely reinforcement, reassured residents of the Command’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Easter festivities.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

According to her, the command further encourages members of the public to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police formation or through designated emergency lines 08066006475 and 07067374913.
