Troops foil terrorist attack, rescue 15 kidnap victims in Kebbi
by Mikal Attah · Daily PostTroops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 15 kidnapped victims after repelling a terrorist attack in Marge community, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The development was contained in a post shared on Sunday by crisis reporter in the North-West region, Bakatsine, via his X handle.
According to the post, the operation was launched after credible intelligence revealed the presence of armed terrorists in Marge, prompting troops to swiftly mobilise to the area.
On arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding bush under superior military firepower while abandoning their captives.
The military said the operation was carried out without any casualties among the troops, while all 15 rescued victims were safely reunited with their families.
The latest rescue came barely 24 hours after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA foiled another kidnapping attempt in Surimi, a border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states, rescuing four abducted victims during a similar intelligence-led operation.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA has continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations across the North-West as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and kidnapping networks and restore security in vulnerable communities.
