Cross River State Deputy Governor, Dr Peter Odey, has mourned the death of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Bayelsa Deputy Governor.

He described it as a great loss to Bayelsa State and the nation.

In a statement on Thursday, Odey said Ewhrudjakpo’s passing leaves a painful void in the Bayelsa government, Governor Douye Diri’s leadership team, and the late deputy governor’s family.

He hailed Ewhrudjakpo as a dedicated public servant and a steadfast friend and brother whose wisdom and humility stood out.

Odey recalled him as “a unifier and firm believer in possibilities,” noting his knack for delivering parables “with the grace of an oracle.”

He also praised Ewhrudjakpo’s leadership as Chairman of the Coastal States Deputy Governors’ Forum.

Odey extended condolences to Governor Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family, and the people of Bayelsa State, praying for strength and comfort for all affected.
