Police arrest four over alleged ₦49m Calabar company burglary

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a six-man gang allegedly involved in the burglary of a phone accessories shop in Calabar, Royaline Technologies, where property worth about ₦49.15 million was reportedly stolen.

The suspects are Hassan Ahmad, 38; Jabiru Ibrahim, 35; Usman Isa Garuba, 22; and Abdullalim Hassan, 23.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly burgled the company located on Etta Agbor Road, Calabar, on June 3, 2026.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 62 mobile phones of various models, accessories, speakers, earphones and cash amounting to ₦529,000 were allegedly carted away during the operation.

The total value of the stolen items was put at ₦49,150,715.

Police operatives of the Vehicle Crime Response Unit (VCRU) traced one of the suspects, Jabiru Ibrahim, to Kano State, where he was arrested on September 2 and subsequently brought to Calabar on September 3.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to arrest the two remaining members of the alleged gang and recover the stolen property.

The arrests followed investigations into the June 3 burglary, with police working to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the roles allegedly played by each suspect.

The Command said the suspects would be subjected to further investigation, while anyone found culpable would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
