Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed after a fire ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred at 11 Adeoye Adeosun Street, Akala Way, Akobo area of Ibadan, on Saturday.

DAILY POST gathered that the fire affected a twin-duplex residential building within the compound.

It was learnt that properties worth millions of naira were affected.

No life was lost in the incident.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, explained that the fire was caused by an electrical surge.

He said, “Upon arrival, the crew discovered that the twin-duplex residential building of four- and three-bedroom flats had already been engulfed by flames, with thick smoke billowing from the affected premises.

“The suspected cause of the fire was an electrical surge.”
