The Kano State Police Command has handed over two recovered vehicles and a tricycle to their rightful owners following a series of successful operations against theft in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Command, on behalf of the Commissioner on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the command, led by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the recoveries were made within the last two weeks through intelligence-led operations and support from members of the public.

“The recovered items include a Pontiac Vibe car, a Toyota Corolla, and a CNG-powered tricycle, all valued at several millions of naira,” the statement revealed.

According to the statement, on May 3, 2026, police operatives attached to Tarauni Area Command recovered a Pontiac Vibe with registration number KMC-175CU in Darmanawa Quarters.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen at about 3:00 a.m. the same day from the owner’s residence,” the statement said.

The police added that the owner was identified through the vehicle’s particulars, and the car has since been released to him, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspects.

In another case, the Command said it recovered a Toyota Corolla LE, 2004 model, which was stolen in Abuja.

“The vehicle was stolen on April 22, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wuse, Abuja, and was later traced to Darmanawa Layout in Kano,” the statement added.

Police operatives from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) recovered the vehicle, which has also been handed over to its owner.

“The suspects have been identified and are still at large,” the statement added.

The command also confirmed the recovery of a stolen CNG tricycle and the arrest of three suspects in connection with the case.

According to the police, the tricycle rider was attacked and poisoned by the suspects in Kaduna State before the vehicle was taken away.

“The suspects were intercepted in Kano, and the tricycle was recovered along Ring Road. The suspects were identified as Umar Rabi’u, 32, Yahaya Hannafi, 20, and Amina Muhammad, 21. They are currently assisting the police in the investigation,” the statement disclosed.

The police said all the recovered items were returned to their owners during a brief ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Bompai.

The Commissioner of Police also praised officers involved in the operations and members of the public who provided useful information.

The police further advised residents to install tracking devices in their vehicles, avoid parking in isolated areas, and always report suspicious activities to security agencies.
