Troops destroy terrorists’ hideout, recover weapons in Borno
by Hadiza Musa · Daily PostTroops of Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP hideout and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation was disclosed in a post shared on X on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited military sources.
According to the report, the operation was carried out on Saturday after troops received credible intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists around the Layi area.
The report said soldiers from the 145 Battalion (Mechanised), led by their Commanding Officer, moved to the location. Upon sighting the advancing troops, the suspected terrorists reportedly fled the area.
“The troops then overran and destroyed the hideout before searching the area, where they recovered a pump-action rifle and three AK-47 magazines believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing insurgents,” Makama wrote.
As part of the operation, the troops also extended their patrol to Mallamti Ganyawa village but did not encounter any terrorists.
According to the report, the operation ended successfully without any casualties, and the troops returned safely to their base later that afternoon.
Military sources described the security situation in the area as relatively calm but unpredictable, adding that troops remain on high alert and are continuing offensive operations against terrorist groups across the North East.
