Fubara mourns former SSS DG Horsfall, describes death as major loss to Nigeria

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described the death of former Director-General of the State Security Service, SSS, Chief Albert K. Horsfall, as a major loss to Nigeria, praising the late security chief for his service, integrity and contributions to national security.

Fubara, in a condolence statement personally signed on Sunday, said Horsfall was not only a distinguished security officer but also an elder statesman and an important representative of Rivers State.

The governor said the former SSS Director-General served the country with dedication and professionalism, adding that his role in strengthening national security and stability had left a lasting mark on the security community.

According to Fubara, Horsfall was regarded in Rivers State as a mentor and an ambassador of the values of service, honour and excellence, particularly among those who knew and worked with him.

The governor said the state had lost a patriot and bridge-builder whose life was defined by service to the nation and commitment to public duty.

“To Rivers State, he was more than a former DG. He was an elder statesman, a mentor to many, and a proud ambassador of our values of service, honour, and excellence.

“We have lost a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity,” he said.

Fubara expressed condolences to Horsfall’s immediate family, the Horsfall family of Buguma, members of the security community and other Nigerians mourning the former intelligence chief.

He prayed for the repose of Horsfall’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength to cope with the loss, while urging that his record of service and patriotism be preserved as an example for future generations.
