JAMB restores CAPS, sets admission deadlines for 2026/2027

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has restored its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, after a temporary disruption, directing tertiary institutions to speed up their admission exercises ahead of the approved deadlines.

The board disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, announcing that the platform was fully operational and urging candidates to promptly accept admission offers available to them.

JAMB also called on tertiary institutions to make up for the time lost during the disruption and ensure that their admission processes are completed within the stipulated period for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to the board, public universities are required to conclude their admission exercises by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026, to complete theirs.

Other tertiary institutions are expected to conclude their admission processes by December 31, 2026.

The examination body further advised candidates who had been waiting for their examination results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council, NECO, Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, results.

JAMB said the update was important to ensure that candidates’ results were available for consideration as institutions intensify admission activities.

The board apologised to candidates and other stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption and appreciated their patience and understanding.

CAPS is JAMB’s electronic platform for managing admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. It enables institutions to recommend candidates for admission while allowing candidates to monitor and accept admission offers.
