Terrorists flee with gunshot wounds as troops kill one in Kaduna

Nigerian troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71 Sanga, have neutralised a suspected terrorist during an offensive operation in Ungwan Nungu village, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out at about 8pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, following intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists operating from a hideout in the community.

According to a post on X by security expert Zagazola Makama, troops deployed to Ungwan Nungu moved to the location and engaged the suspects in a gun battle.

One of the terrorists, identified as Bashir Mohammed, was killed during the encounter.

Other members of the group reportedly fled the scene with possible gunshot wounds sustained during the exchange of fire.

Troops have launched efforts to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while operations continue in the area to prevent the group from regrouping and carrying out further attacks on surrounding communities.
