Imo LG polls: ISIEC fixes November 7 as new date
by Williams Odunze · Daily PostThe Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ,ISIEC has fixed Saturday, November 7, 2026, as the new date for the conduct of local government council elections in the state.
The commission made the disclosure in a press statement personally signed by its chairman, Chief Charles Ejiogu.
According to ISIEC, the new date followed the earlier postponement of the elections, which were scheduled for September 26, and a series of consultations with the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Imo State chapter.
The commission said an expanded stakeholders’ meeting would be announced soon, during which the amended election timetable and electoral guidelines arising from the postponement would be released.

ISIEC apologised to political parties, chairmanship and councillorship aspirants, stakeholders and the general public for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
The commission also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a peaceful, transparent and credible election across the 27 local government councils in the state.
