Osun Guber: Adeleke campaign council, APC trade allegations, canvass support

The All Progressives Congress, APC, and Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign team, The Imole Campaign Council, TICC, have exchanged fresh allegations over security, political violence and governance ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, with both sides urging voters to support their respective candidates.

In a statement issued on Sunday through the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party challenged Governor Adeleke, the Accord governorship candidate seeking re-election, to respond to allegations that his administration had failed to tackle political violence and criminal activities during its tenure.

The Osun APC alleged that the state government had tolerated political violence and questioned the governor’s handling of security issues since assuming office in November 2022.

The party also raised concerns about the conduct of the 2022 governorship election and urged the governor to explain his administration’s record.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke owes the people of the state an explanation for running a hoodlum-friendly administration since the inauguration of his government in November 2022,” the statement said.

The APC insisted that the electorate deserved answers on issues it raised concerning governance, security and the administration’s record, expressing confidence that voters would make their decision based on its assessment of the government’s performance.

Responding in a separate statement, the Imole Campaign Council rejected the APC’s allegations and instead accused the opposition party of promoting intimidation and violence in the build-up to the governorship election.

The campaign council maintained that Osun residents were prepared to make their choice through the ballot box.

According to the council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, reports received from communities across the state indicated that many voters were determined to reject what he described as politics driven by fear.

He said, “The people of Osun are prepared to vote decisively against the APC, driven largely by widespread concerns over what many residents describe as a pattern of political intimidation, violence, and insecurity.”

The Imole Campaign Council also defended the performance of the Adeleke administration, stating that workers’ salaries had been paid regularly, infrastructure projects had continued, public institutions had been strengthened and investments had been directed towards citizens’ welfare.

5he campaign council called on the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services and other security agencies to ensure that the governorship election is peaceful, free, fair and credible.

It also urged law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in political violence, irrespective of political affiliation.
