Osun CP presents N13.5m cheques to fallen officer’s families

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, has presented welfare cheques totalling N13,531,081.10 to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty.

The presentation was held at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo on Friday as part of welfare support approved by the Inspector-General of Police for the next of kin of fallen officers.

Zungura, who received the bereaved families in his office, expressed condolences over the loss of their loved ones while acknowledging the courage and sacrifices made by the deceased officers during their service.

The Commissioner said the financial assistance was intended to provide support to the families following the loss of their loved ones and urged them to make prudent use of the funds.

He said, “I urge you not to lose hope. The Nigeria Police Force remains a family that stands with its own, both in service and after service.”

Zungura encouraged the families to use the financial support to address their immediate needs while continuing to take pride in the service rendered by the deceased officers.

He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, would continue to support the families of officers who died in the line of duty.

According to him, “The IGP’s administration remains committed to the welfare of officers and their dependants. The presentation is a practical demonstration of that commitment.”

The Osun CP assured the families that the Command would continue to provide support where necessary, stressing that the families of fallen officers remained part of the police family.

Zungura prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families and asked them to remain steadfast as they continue to cope with the loss of their loved ones.
