Senator Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South, has commended the Nigerian Army for the successful rescue of 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Mussa District, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The victims, aged 15 to 20, were kidnapped last Sunday while harvesting crops on their family farmlands.

According to a statement by the Nigerian Army, the girls were freed on Saturday following a swift, intelligence-driven operation by troops under Operation HADIN KAI in southern Borno. They have since been moved to a secure location, where they are receiving full medical attention.

Reacting, Ndume, in a statement issued in Abuja, commended the gallantry and prompt response of the troops whose efforts led to the safe recovery of the girls.

He praised the resilience and patriotism of the soldiers operating in the Northeast, noting that they continue to confront significant challenges while remaining committed to their mission.

“Over the weekend, men of the Nigerian Army in the Borno theatre achieved another remarkable feat with the successful rescue of all 12 abducted teenagers,” Ndume said. “This operation is yet another demonstration of professionalism and selflessness.”

He added, “I will continue to appeal to the sense of patriotism of men of the Nigerian Army to remain determined to destroy evil forces, driven by vain glorification to cow the rest of us.”

The lawmaker reiterated his call for the Federal Government to prioritise adequate funding for the military and to review the welfare and remuneration of personnel to strengthen morale and enhance operational effectiveness.
