• A Dublin hospital recorded the highest number of incidents of violence or aggression against staff, patients and members of the public over the past three years of any hospital in the country. 
• Taoiseach Micheál Martin said that Donald Trump’s support for Irish unity “should be no surprise” to unionists.
• Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill signed an agreement with her Scottish and Welsh counterparts pushing for constitutional change.
• Three sisters who were seriously injured last month when their car was hit by a vehicle driving the wrong way have said that they are “getting stronger as the days go by”.
• There are fears for Irish Revolut customers’ data after the fintech firm was duped by fraud emails.
• AIB officially launched its redesigned app at the end of June and continued to roll it out across various accounts and devices on a phased basis. It has officially usurped its predecessor app – but not everyone’s happy.
• Doctors union members have begun voting on whether to strike over a lack of a pay deal.
• The number of people paying into a pension increased by 17% since last year, but just two in five are sure that their pension will provide a good standard of living in retirement.
• An inquiry into the sectarian murder of Robert Hamill found police officers who were in a Land Rover near the scene “did not condone or collude” with the attackers.
• Home heating oil prices have climbed by 15% since the start of September.
• Dublin City Council’s housing committee backed a motion calling for the reversal of council rent increases which were introduced in April.
• There will be minute – literally – changes to Dublin train timetables for autumn as Irish Rail seeks to counteract leaf fall challenges on its tracks.
• Harry Styles added a third date at Croke Park for next year, just days after two dates were scheduled for the British pop star.
• Dublin City Council gave the green light to one of the two applications connected to the transformation of the Victoria Secrets store in Dublin into a retail space for “a premium beauty retailer”.

INTERNATIONAL

#UKRAINE: A Ukrainian rail operator said it is “entirely plausible” that the drone which hit a train near former UK prime minister Boris Johnson and other officials could have been targeting the diplomatic train. 

#US: Macklemore has been dropped from Ed Sheeran’s US tour after his chants of ‘Free Palestine’ reportedly landed him in hot water with American venues.

#GAZA: The Israeli culture minister called for an investigation to identify the anonymous military sources featured in the award-winning documentary “NAZA” who accused the army of mass civilian killing in Gaza.

#CANADA: The European Parliament will open an ‘antennae’ office in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, as the EU strengthens ties with Canadian prime minister Mark Carney’s government.

#PERTH: A surfer in his 50s was rushed to hospital after being bitten by a shark in Western Australia.

#EMMY AWARDS: The Emmys are taking place tonight – here’s what shows are tipped to win. 

PARTING SHOT

Oasis confirmed they will return to Slane Castle next September, more than 30 years after first taking to the stage at the famous Co Meath venue.

The Gallagher brothers will play two shows on 4 and 5 September, as part of a newly announced run of concerts in 2027.

The band’s new tour also includes dates across the UK, mainland Europe and the USA.

The confirmation came by way of a video released on social media this afternoon, which also said that people who wished to buy tickets would need to register their interest on the band’s website. 

“There will be no general onsale,” the post states.

In Ireland, standard ticket prices will be fixed and range between €181.25 to €501.25 including booking fee. Each ticket subject to max €10.50 service charge. Tickets limited to four per person.
