- Daniel Kinahan, who was extradited from Dubai today, was arrested and charged upon arrival in Dublin this evening. He was escorted to the Special Criminal Court under heavy garda security shortly after 7pm.
- Eight teenagers and a man in his 20s were brought to hospital following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the M50 this morning.
- Stephen Penrose, a prisoner serving a life sentence for murder lost an appeal against a High Court ruling that Mountjoy Prison had acted appropriately in placing him in solitary confinement.
- The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) recalled over 40 loose salad and prepacked products from Dunnes Stores over Salmonella risk.
- The family of the late Veronica Guerin donated €142,902 to St Francis Hospice in her memory.
- Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann has ended today, after welcoming an estimated one million visitors to Belfast over the past week.
- A man (20s) was seriously injured after collision between a bus and a car in Co Kerry.
- The body of a man was found inside a burning vehicle in Co Armagh.

PARTING SHOT
An exceptionally rare, near-total eclipse of the sun will be visible across Ireland this coming Wednesday, 12 August.
A solar eclipse happens when the moon moves directly between the earth and the sun, blocking its light. From the ground, people can see the sky turn dark and a bright ring of the sun’s atmosphere appear in the sky.
Our reporter Hannah Power spoke to experts from observatories around Ireland to find out the best ways people will be able to view the solar eclipse, including tips on how to get the most out of this ultra-rare event.
