Four counties under wind warnings, as blustery weekend begins

A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo.
It came into effect at midnight and will expire at 2pm.
Meanwhile, in Cork and Kerry, a Status Yellow rain warning will come into effect at midday.
It will expire at 8pm this evening.

Coastal areas all around the island will experience strong winds throughout the weekend, with southwesterly winds will reach gale force 8, and gale force 9 at times.
Today will be cold but bright, with more sun further east this morning. It will remain cloudy elsewhere.
Scattered showers are forecast across the western half of the country through the day, with just isolated showers further east.
Temperatures will reach highs of 7 to 11 degrees.
Showers may be heavy at times with the chance of hail and thunder possible.
Sunday is to be another breezy and bright day with scattered showers gradually becoming more isolated through the afternoon, Met Éireann says.
