1. People were forced to flee their homes as multiple cars and homes were set alight during serious disorder on Tuesday night in the wake of a serious knife attack in the city.

2. A man charged over that attack is due to appear in court accused of attempted murder later today.

3. The government will offer a State apology to victims of Bill Kenneally, following the publication of a long-awaited report into his “cruel and exploitative” abuse.

US-Iran

4. US forces launched retaliatory “self-defence strikes” against Iran, in a major escalation that threatens the fragile ceasefire between the two countries.

Watchdog’s warning

5. The state will have to borrow in order to fulfil its saving fund commitments, the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (IFAC) has said, as Ireland is set to increase spending faster than any other European economy in the medium term while continuing to rely on risky corporate tax revenue.

6. The first of two Dáil debates this week on Ireland’s upcoming Nations League fixtures with Israel was told that this country “can’t sit on the sidelines” as politicians called for a boycott.

8. The head of the White House task force for the World Cup has defended the decision not to grant visas to a decorated Somali referee.
