Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition is launching next month

SEGA and Creative Assembly have dropped a surprise announcement today with the reveal of Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition, which is set to launch on October 13th for PC. This complete edition has been updated to include new additions and enhancements, including 50 new playable factions which gives you plenty of options to reshape Japanese history.

The 700 years of history that Total War Shogun 2 covers includes the rise of the Shogun to the fall of the Samurai, and the Complete Edition’s other new additions include:

• Full Japanese and Chinese voice and text localisation
• Improved visuals, lighting and shadows
• 1440p and 4K UI scaling
• Modernised controls
• More than 50 newly playable factions
• Integrated Mod.io support
• 64-bit upgrade
• Ultrawide monitor support
• Colourblind accessibility options

Total War Shogun 2 brings together all of the released content that the original release had, and if you do own the original you will get all of the legacy DLC for free. However, there is no free upgrade from the original to Total War Shogun 2 Complete Edition, but there will be a limited time 75% discount to grab it at a reduced price. There is another caveat where the Steam version of Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition includes everything including the original except the Blood Pack DLC. However, purchasing the game includes the Complete Edition only.

Back in 2020, Jon reviewed Total War: Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai, saying, “Overall, Total War Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai is an excellent addition to the series and is a must-have title for Total War fans. New people to the series would find it daunting at first but it’s a very forgiving game, notably when compared to its predecessor.”
