Count Binface demands Shenmue 4 and the re-opening on SegaWorld in London

It’s quite rare to find political figures campaigning for games  but over in here in the UK we have Count Binface, the leading candidate going up against Nigel Farage in the Clacton by election on 13 August, with some strong words for Sega.

A new video posted on social media shows the independent space warrior demanding that “the fans would like an update, from you Sega, about Shenmue 4,” as they should not leave the fans “on a cliff-hanger” for years.

He then goes on to ponder if Sega needs to be nationalised along with singer Adele, one of his campaign pledges.  He also suggests a “reboot” of the SegaWorld arcade that was found in the Trocadero in London. This  seems a very good idea to me, I spent many days in there when I was younger playing on Afterburner 360.

“Sega, you need to get your bottoms in gear,” he concludes.

The last we heard of Shenmue 4 was when Yu Suzuki had been talking about the future of the Shenmue with IGN Japan way back in 2020, and how he sees it going. Translated by VGC it seems that Yu Suzuki believes that there would be a Shenmue 4.

“With Shenmue 3 I created a game for the fans, but if I have the opportunity to make Shenmue 4 – and I think I will – I know how to satisfy casual users, so I want to make a game that everyone can be satisfied with. With Shenmue 3, I really responded to the fans’ voices, so I wasn’t necessarily thinking about making any money. But since I’m running a company, I have to think about what can sell if I continue. I’ve been seriously talking about it over and over again.”

Some of the things that Yu wants to add to Shenmue 4 are quest markers, fast travel, a much easier to understand user interface, and skip time features. He has also revealed that he would like to work on other projects too including more “intimate” open worlds.

Shenmue III Enhanced Edition was released on consoles and PC  last year.
