A bunch of Star Wars experiences are jumping into Fortnite today

With Star Wars Day taking place on Monday, Epic, Lucasfilm and Disney are preempting the celebration by dropping three new Star Wars games into Fortnite – Droid Tycoon, Escape Vader and Galactic Siege – as well as opening the floodgates to fan creations using Star Wars assets.

Available from today, 1st May, the three Epic and Lucasfilm collaborations are:

  • Galactic Siege (developed with JOGO Studios, island code: 5003-9856-3648) – Fight in large-scale PvP class-based battles with 10v10 combat across iconic Star Wars planets.
  • Escape Vader (made with Beyond Creative, island code: 7285-4185-5428) Hide, run, and try to survive in this 4-player co-op game where you attempt to escape the terrifying Sith Lord, Darth Vader.
  • Droid Tycoon (created with FOAD, island code: 7865-8305-9184) – Build and customize droids using authentic Star Wars blueprints, manage your workshop and factory systems, and unlock rare components and special missions.

The same new and expanded set of tools and assets are available for use in Creative and UEFN – find details here.

Additionally new Star Wars themed quests will feature in Fortnite each week through May, which can be completed in any Star Wars game for free rewards, and on 19th May at 3PM UK time, a The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island will appear, featuring a message from Jon Favreau and a 10-minute sneak peek at the film which will arrive in theatres on 22nd May.

This is far from the first time that Fortnite and Star Wars have crossed paths. Fortnite had a similar watch party preview in the run up to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars assets were added to the game for last year’s Star Wars Day (alongside another watch along for Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, and James Earl Jones’ voice was resurrected with an AI chatbot for a Darth Vader NPC, which predictably went far off the rails before Epic got it under control.

This year’s event comes after some tumultuous times for Epic. The company has raised the price of V-Bucks as player counts have been trailing off over the past year, and laid off over 1,000 employees in March. Earlier this month, details of Epic’s partnership with Disney were reported on, with claims that the companies were making a new extraction shooter. In response to the story, Epic said that “This is not reflective of the ambitions of the Disney collaboration. We are building a new games and entertainment universe of Disney experiences.” It’s not clear if today’s Star Wars games count as part of that, but it feels like they could?
