Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch sequel announced for PC, PS5 & Xbox Series X|S

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, a sequel to 2022’s Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, has been announced by Complex Games and publisher Frontier Developments. The game is in the works for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Chaos Gate – Deathwatch will put you in command of a Deathwatch Kill Team as Interrogator Bastian Rath, taking them into turn-based tactical battle to drive back the forces of Chaos within the Tyrian expanse. Not all is quite as it seems, perhaps, as you will be following the in wake of Inquisitor Rykov and discovering the conspiracy that threatens the sector.

Deathwatch promises refined combat, greater variety in allies, enemies and larger battlefields. There’s seven enemy factions that you’ll run into – including Orks and Genestealer cultists – while your squad can be made up of nine different classes, which you’ll combine and equip to form your Kill Team. Oh, and you can make use of bulky vehicles, including a Redemptor Dreadnought, Scout Sentinel, and Leman Russ tank.

Looking back on Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, Complex Games did well with their first effort in the setting, giving you command of the Grey Knights and adapting that struggle against overwhelming forces that’s so common to the XCOM style game. This was expanded through expansions, such as a Duty Eternal DLC which added a dreadnaught to your roster, and the game was eventually ported to console in 2024. Deathwatch, however, promises to be a simultaneous release.

It takes a while to get going, the situations and enemies you encounter lack a bit of variety, but this is an accomplished effort that’s easy to recommend to fans of Warhammer 40K and XCOM alike.”
