Minister inaugurates renovation work of Pullanikkad-Mangalam-Punnamparampu road
by The Hindu Bureau · The HinduThe construction work to upgrade the Pullanikkad-Mangalam-Panangattukara-Punnamparampu road, a key route connecting the Thekkumkara panchayat and Wadakkancherry Municipality, to BMBC (Bituminous Macadam and Bituminous Concrete) standards was inaugurated by Public Works Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas.
The event, held at Mangalam on Friday evening, was chaired by Wadakkancherry MLA Xavier Chittilappilly. Kunnamkulam MLA A. C. Moideen was the chief guest.
The road construction is part of a project funded by the State government, with an allocation of ₹7.34 crore from the State Budget. The project involves upgrading the Pullanikkad-Mangalam-Panangattukara-Punnamparampu road, which connects the State Highway 22 and the Peechi-Vazhanni tourism corridor. The road work covers a 5.26-km stretch from the Wadakkancherry railway station overbridge road to Punnamparampu Centre, passing through Mangalam, Panangattukara, and Thekkumkara.
The first phase of the project, including the construction of 18 culverts, 500 metres of canal construction, 400 metres of side protective wall, road safety work, and utility shifting for KSEB and KWA, has received a technical approval of ₹5.53 crore.
