Government school teacher arrested under POCSO Act for sexually abusing minor girl, detained under Goondas Act

A Government school teacher in Cuddalore district, who was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has been detained under the Goondas Act.

The Sethiyathoppu All Women Police registered a case under the POCSO Act against the accused after investigations revealed that he had sexually abused a 17-year-old girl studying in a government school. Malarselvan had abused the girl after threatening to fail her in the examinations.

The incident came to light in December 2024. Based a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the police arrested him under the POCSO Act.

On the recommendations of Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar ordered his detention under the Goondas Act. The orders were served on him in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
