CM should explain why a resolution was passed in the Assembly against draft UGC regulations: Annamalai

Chief Minister MK Stalin should give a reason for passing a resolution in the Legislative Assembly seeking withdrawal of the Draft UGC Regulations 2025, said BJP state president K. Annamalai in Coimbatore on Thursday.

The Central government has released the Draft UGC regulations and given time till February 5 for submitting objections to it. The Chief Minister should understand the Draft UGC Regulations properly, he said. “Why politicise it and pass a resolution in the Assembly. Let the Chief Minister give reasons for it,” he said.

Regarding Tungsten mining, he said the Central government has said it was up to the State government to decide and the Chief Minister should put an end to this issue and not politicise it.

Regarding Naam Tamizhar Katchi leader Seeman’s views on Periyar, Mr. Annamalai said he was of the view that it need not be spoken in the public.
