Met Office issues 'danger to life' amber weather warning as six areas on alert

by Zahra Khaliq · The MirrorA "danger to life" amber weather warning has been issued for a large area of the UK, with residents warned homes and businesses are likely to be flooded or damaged.
Persistent rain across parts of southern and southwestern Scotland will be particularly heavy at times during Sunday, before easing from the north by the end of the day, the forecaster said. The majority of the area will face as much as 50-70 mm of rain, while parts of the Galloway Hills and other areas of the Southern Uplands could see 110-130 mm of rain. "Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life," the Met Office warned.
