Bill Clinton rushed to hospital as former president, 78, in fresh health scare

Former President Bill Clinton was rushed to hospital where he is being observed and tested after developing worrying symptoms, an aide for the Democrat has said in a statement

Former president Bill Clinton, 78, has been rushed to hospital, his aide said in a statement.

Angel Ureña, Clinton's deputy chief of staff, said on X/Twitter: "President Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever. He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving."

An unnamed source told NBC News the situation was "not urgent" and that he is recovering at the Washington D.C. hospital They continued: "The former president will be fine. He He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert."

After leaving the White House, Clinton has faced numerous health concerns. He has had multiple surgeries and been taken to various hospitals in the US.

The Democrat was previously hospitalised after he developed an infection that reached his blood in 2021. He was released following six days of care.

In 2004, Clinton had a quadruple bypass operation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and returned to the same hospital for another heart procedure.

Clinton was also hospitalised in 2010 following complaints about chest pains. He went on to have two coronary stents placed in his heart.

During his two terms as president, Biden became known for his love for fast food and jogging. He continued to play roles assisting Democrats after he exited the White House.

Clinton made an appearance on the campaign trail as part of Vice President Kamala Harris' failed bid for the presidency. He recently released his latest book about his life following his time as president.

'Citizen: My Life After the White House' focuses on major events over the past two decades, including the Iraq War, January 6 riot at the Capitol and the pandemic. Clinton was president of the US from 1993 until 2001 when Republican George W. Bush ended an era of Democrat dominance in Washington DC.
