Cops swarmed Amersfoort Central train station in Utrecht following reports of a stabbing in which the suspect boarded a train headed for the station in order to escape - instead officers were waiting

Cops swarmed Amersfoort Central train station in Utrecht after a man who allegedly stabbed a woman in a nearby street escaped onto a train headed there.
Police confirmed that the 23-year-old suspect had been seen on CCTV boarding a train heading towards Amersfoort Central train station at around 9:30pm following the incident.
Multiple police units rushed to the station, with a heavy police presence waiting for the suspect when he arrived, The Star reports.
Officers with stun guns and operating a shield tactic boarded the train and surrounded the man with dog units also reportedly called to the scene. The man surrendered to police at the station.
The major operation wrapped up at around 10:15pm as the suspect was taken to the local police station. All the police units quickly left the train station and services continued to run as normal.
The injured woman, who is reportedly 50, was reportedly taken to hospital with minor injuries but police did not reveal any further details of her wounds.
A spokesperson for the Central Netherlands Police told local publication De Staf Amersfoort that a 23-year-old suspect, who has no fixed address, had allegedly stabbed a 50-year-old woman.
They said that the incident took place on the Van Sijpesteijnkade in Utrecht.
Police used CCTV to quickly identify the suspect after he fled via Utrecht Central Station. Officers watched him board a train to Amersfoort, where they orchestrated multiple police units to meet him on arrival.
