Dagenham stabbing: Woman and two young girls fighting for life as man arrested

A woman and two girls were found with stab injuries at an address in Dagenham, East London and remain in hospital - while a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A woman and two girls have been stabbed in East London this evening and are fighting for their lives in hospital.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on First Avenue in Dagenham at around 5:30pm this evening. Aariel images from the scene show a huge emergency services response, with at least eight police cars lining up and down the residential street. London Air Ambulance's Rapid Response vehicle was also reportedly on scene.

One woman and two young girls were found suffering stab injuries and remain in hospital, while a man was arrested on suspicion of murder, the Metropolitan Police said. The man was also taken to hospital after being taken unwell.

The force said in a statement: "Police were called at approximately 5:35pm to reports of a stabbing on First Avenue, Dagenham. The Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

"A woman and two female children were found suffering stab injuries – they have been taken to hospital for treatment. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He was also taken to hospital after being taken unwell.

"A crime scene remains in place."
