Dave Bautista might be your next God of War

After Ryan Hurst's accident on the Amazon Series, Dave Bautista is reportedly in talks to take over the role.

The television adaptation of God of War might have found its new Kratos. Acting juggernaut and all-around nice guy Dave Bautista is reportedly set to take over from Ryan Hurst, who stepped away from the role following a bicep tear.

Dave Bautista is currently in negotiations to take over the role of Kratos in the Amazon MGM Studios God of War television series according to reporting by Deadline. The August 3, 2026 report states that the wrestler-turned-actor would be replacing Ryan Hurst, who tore his bicep while performing a stunt for the role of Kratos.

Bautista recently slimmed down following his bulky and larger than life portrayal of Glossu “Beast” Rabban Harkonnen for the Denis Villeneuve Dune films. The report by Deadline notes that Bautista is coming off of shoots for the Highlander film, which required him to bulk up. One can then assume that it wouldn’t take too long to begin another cycle of bulking up for the role of Kratos.

Kratos isn’t the only role reportedly being recast in this latest Sony Pictures Television video game adaptation. Forbes recently reported that Atreus, Kratos’ son, would be recast for the second season. At the moment, Callum Vinson plays the part, but the listing for season two wants actors aged between 14 and 17, and Vinson is currently 12.
