God of War Prime Video show to recast Kratos after Ryan Hurst was seriously injured on set
The God of War live action show is recasting Kratos after lead actor Ryan Hurst was severely injured on the set.

TMZ reports that the actor tore his biceps while doing a stunt on the set of the PlayStation video game adaptation. God of War paused production following the injury and Hurst has already undergone surgery to repair the muscle. Typical recovery time for such an injury takes 4-6 months which would put Hurt's return well into 2027.
Recasting efforts have already begun for the role of Kratos and production is set to restart in mid-October according to Deadline. We first learned of the God of War Amazon Prime Video project back in 2022, and Hurst was officially announced as the lead in January 2026.
