Ubisoft Co-founder Claude Guillemot has died in a plane crash in France at the age of 69. Ubisoft confirmed this tragic news earlier today.

Here's the statement from Ubisoft:

Ubisoft ‌was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the group and chairman ​of Guillemot Corp, in an accident.
Our thoughts are with his family ⁠and loved ones during this difficult time. No ​further statements will be made at this time.

Claude Guillemot co-founded Ubisoft with his brothers back in 1986 and went on to work behind the scenes of the company in later years.

Guillemot died in a plane crash on the Atlantic coast of France in a town named La Baule. He was one of two people who died in the twin-engine Cessna plane accident according to Ouest-France.
