Dave Bautista has been cast as Kratos in Amazon's God of War TV series
Bautista is set to take over for Ryan Hurst, who was playing Kratos until an onset injury in June 2026.
by TJ Denzer · ShacknewsDave Bautista is set to pick up the role of Kratos in Amazon’s upcoming God of War TV series, filling in for Ryan Hurst after the latter injured himself onset earlier this year.
Bautista’s casting was confirmed by Variety as he moves on to star in the Prime Video series.

Bautista was said to be in negotiations about the role in God of War earlier this month. Amazon confirmed that the series was in development back in 2022. However, in June 2026, Ryan Hurst was sidelined when, while performing a stunt for the show, Hurst suffered a major bicep tear. He underwent successful surgery, but recovery is likely to run well into 2027.
With Bautista’s casting, Amazon has officially signaled it will be moving on. As we await more details and updates, stay tuned to the God of War topic.
