A Jewish woman, Leah, has tragically passed away in upstate NY after she drowned saving her son. Please help her have a dignified burial.

Leah was a kind woman who experienced a lot in her life. She was involved in various Jewish communities, always searching.

She tragically drowned in the Hoosic River after helping her child reach safety, after being caught in a strong current, according to New York State Police.

State Police identified the victim as Janice Ganz, 42, of Albany. Investigators said Ganz had been swimming with her child when the two were caught up in a strong current.

State Police said Ganz assisted in getting her child to safety but went under the water and did not resurface. The investigation is ongoing.

Thank G-d, a Jewish burial has been agreed upon, however the community is asking for help to assist in this huge mitzvah.

Every contribution makes a difference.
