NYPD Brooklyn South Holds High Holiday Security Briefing
NYPD officials and community representatives met Monday to review security preparations for Jewish communities throughout Brooklyn South ahead of the upcoming High Holiday season.

The meeting was led by Assistant Chief Charles Minch, Commanding Officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, together with Honorary Commissioner Devorah Halberstam, and focused on security measures being put in place throughout the month of Tishrei, from Rosh Hashanah through Sukkot.
Commanding officers from precincts throughout Brooklyn South presented their security plans for the holiday period, outlining measures being taken to protect Jewish communities during a time of increased synagogue attendance, pedestrian traffic and communal gatherings. Also discussed were concerns about the Jewish community of East Flatbush, with Deputy Inspector Sony Beauvoir, Commanding Officer of the 67th Precinct.
Halberstam praised Assistant Chief Charles Minch for his leadership of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South and his continued attention to the security needs of the Jewish community. She noted Minch’s sensitivity to the unique concerns of the community, particularly during the High Holiday season, when ensuring the safety of residents takes on added importance. She commended his commitment to working closely with local precincts and community leaders to ensure that appropriate security measures are in place throughout the borough during the busy holiday period.
The meetings come as the NYPD and community leaders prepare for the busy Tishrei season and the increased activity surrounding Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot throughout Brooklyn’s Jewish neighborhoods, home to the largest number of Jews in the City of New York.

Also attending were Sergeant Michael Barrata of the 71st Precinct, Detective Jonathan Connors of the 71st Precinct Community Affairs Unit, and Police Officer Shatoya Braddy.
