SIBU (Nov 17): The newly-rebuilt Sungai Merah Market is expected to start operating next week, says Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting.

According to him, the project was among those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Next week, we are going to open our Sungai Merah market which has been under construction since the Covid-19 outbreak,” said Ting when officiating at the ‘SMC Innovation, Integrity cum Meet the Customer Day’ at Wisma Sanyan here yesterday.

Also present at the event were SMC deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley, and secretary Yong Ing Chu.

While citing the council’s future plan to upgrade the Rejang Park Market, Ting also called upon the Sibu folk to visit the newly opened Dayak Food Court in Permai.
