SMK Chung Hua Miri grads celebrate milestone at joyous ceremony

MIRI (Nov 16): Hundreds of Form 5 and Form 6 students of SMK Chung Hua Miri marked the end of their secondary education in a joyous graduation ceremony held at the school’s Dato Lee Teck Fook Assembly Hall here yesterday.

Chairperson of the school’s board of directors, Tan Sri Dato Paduka Chai Yu Lan, highlighted that this marks a significant point in the graduates’ lives, and encouraged them to face their future with the confidence, knowledge and wisdom instilled in them during their time at SMK Chung Hua Miri.

“As you prepare to take the next step in your journey, whether it is to further your education or enter the workforce, remember that life itself in a continuous learning process.

“Your time here at SMK Chung Hua Miri has laid a strong foundation, but there is much more ahead to discover, explore and achieve. Thus, continue to stay curious, keep learning and embrace each new experience with an open mind,” said Chai in a text-of-speech read by the board of directors’ secretary Rita Ting.

Meanwhile, principal Lia Jia Ling commended the graduation class for their resilience, adaptability and strength for navigating through their education during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This group of students, having begun their secondary education in 2020, embraced digital learning with courage and flexibility, and excelled in doing so despite the unprecedented shift to online and hybrid learning environments,” she said.

Moreover, she also pointed out notable achievements that demonstrated the students’ talents, such as the school band’s performance in Korea and the robotics team’s success in Panama, praising the students’ discipline, maturity and readiness to enter the workforce.

“That said, the school would also like to thank the students’ parents, school alumni, the Parent-Teacher Association and the school’s dedicated teachers for their invaluable support and commitment,” she said.
