KUCHING (Nov 17) The Kuching Teochew Association will hold its 65th committee election on Nov 24.

The election, which is scheduled to take place from 8.30am to 3pm, will be held at the association’s premises at Jalan Tabuan.

It is understood that the association has finalised the list of contesting candidates.

The association revealed that a total of 29 candidates will be vying for 19 committee posts.

In addition, the Kuching Teochew Association’s Women Section’s 12th committee election and Youth Section’s 25th committee election will also be held on the same day.

The association said all the 15 candidates for the Women Section won uncontested since the number matches the existing number of committee posts.

It added that the same goes for the Youth Section, which has seen all the 15 candidates winning unopposed.

The Kuching Teochew Association election unit reminded all eligible members to bring along their MyKad or membership card to cast their votes.

The election unit advised them to exercise their voting rights as early as possible on Nov 24.

“The election is scheduled to end at 3pm, after which vote-counting follows. The election results will be made known immediately after the counting of votes is done,” said the association.

The association reminded its members that no campaigning will be allowed during the election day.
