KUCHING (Nov 17): Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil called on those living in Bidayuh villages within the constituency to prioritise the surveying and documentation of their Native Customary Rights (NCR) land.

He encouraged them to participate in the NCR land documentation carried out by the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) to ensure their NCR land is documented.

“Land documentation is very important to protect our rights to customary land

“I am ready to help financially but still advise each village to prepare a cost estimate as a first step,” he said at the presentation of NCR land documentation certificate from DBNA to 18 landowners at Kampung Bengoh Rais yesterday.

He thanked the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) there for their dedication in ensuring that NCR land is well documented.

On another matter, Dr Jerip who is also Deputy Minister of Transport, said the areas in Kampung Bengoh and Kampung Danu will be developed as core agricultural areas, especially for the planting of hill paddy.

“A total of RM14 million has been allocated under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA)’s development programme for this project,” he added.

For Kampung Bengoh Rais, he said a total of RM400,000 was channelled through the Mambong constituency’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to upgrade infrastructure such as village lanes and its multipurpose hall since 2015.

Also present were DBNA president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, who is also GKCDA special administrative officer, heads of departments and community leaders.
