SARIKEI (Oct 27): A total of 11 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and longhouses in the Sarikei parliamentary constituency have received the Sejati Madani grants under the ‘Sejahtera Komuniti Madani’ initiative.

Sarikei MP Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii said these fundings were for the implementation of the JKKKs’ annual activities.

“Each eligible JKKK has received a grant amounting to RM100,000, which is a new initiative by the Madani government aimed at boosting economic activities at the community level.

“The total grant allocation that has been disbursed to these 11 JKKKs is RM1,086,600.

“Currently, the Federal Government has identified several sectors with high potential for growth, such as recycling or green activities, tourism, food, fashion, agriculture, health products, and herbs,” said Huang.

He disclosed this during the grant handover ceremony at the Meradong district office near here yesterday.

Such initiative, he added, demonstrated the federal government’s concern for the people, and for that, he pledged his commitment to assist and develop Sarikei in every aspect.

“In this regard, we also urge the community and the JKKK to work together with us by providing information and the needs of the grassroots community to us,” he said.

At the same event, Huang also presented the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to 16 clubs, associations, and non-governmental organisations in the Meradong District.

Also present were Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, State Development Office for Sri Aman Division chief assistant director Radiah Muhamed, Meradong District Office representative Ting Kai Siang, and Sarikei District Office representative Mohd Tajuddin Yusof.
