LAWAS (Dec 12): Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) will continue working closely with Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) to strengthen the state’s oil and gas sector, ensuring long-term development for both Sarawak and the nation.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the partnership between the two entities remains crucial, as Petronas has long contributed significantly to national growth through sectors that impact people’s livelihoods.

“We hope that with the existence of Petros in Sarawak, close collaboration with Petronas can further enhance activities and development in the oil and gas sector, especially in Sarawak,” he said at the ‘Petronas Pre-Christmas and Back to School 2025’ programme here on Thursday.

Awang Tengah, who is State Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment, and Second State Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, noted that Petronas has played a key role not only in industry development but also in human capital, producing many skilled Sarawakian workers, including entrepreneurs.

Under the community outreach programme, 350 recipients from 34 villages around Lawas received food basket donations, while 325 students from five schools were given school supplies.

The student assistance was handed over by Awang Tengah to Lawas District Education officer Pengiran Abdul Kadir Pengiran Budin.

Also present at the event were Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong, Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang, Petronas Carigali (Sarawak Assets) general manager Chin Wee Yang, Petronas Sarawak general manager Norazibah Md Rabu, and Malaysia Petroleum Management general manager M Abshar M Nor.
