Tiong: Festive engagements key to building trust, unity
by Philip Wong · Borneo Post OnlineSIBU (April 6): Festive celebrations are not only a time for joy but also an important opportunity to promote communication and deepen relationships, said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
He said such interactions go beyond gatherings during festive seasons, as they play a vital role in building understanding and trust within communities.
“It will gradually help foster a stronger and more connected community. Hopefully, such engagements will not only take place during festive seasons but continue in our daily lives so that together we can build a better community,” he said in a statement.
Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman, and his team, were visiting the Sibu Jaya area to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with the local Malay community.
He said the visits provided an opportunity to listen to residents’ concerns and gain a better understanding of their daily challenges.
Tiong said his service centre has been tasked with following up on the issues raised to ensure that concerns are addressed effectively and meaningfully.
He also expressed appreciation to the hosts for their warm hospitality, noting that the experience reflected the kindness and sincerity of the community.
