by Jacqueline Raphael · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Dec 17): Miri MP Chiew Choon Man has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his appointment as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
In a statement, Chiew described the role as a significant responsibility, especially with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 approaching — a key national initiative to revitalise the tourism, arts, and culture sectors.
He pledged to work closely with Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to ensure the effective implementation of the ministry’s plans, policies, and initiatives for the benefit of the people and the country.
“This is a great responsibility. I will work hard and give my full commitment to strengthening the tourism, arts and culture sectors while enhancing Malaysia’s image internationally,” he said.
Chiew also thanked the people of Miri for their continued support since the 15th General Election, noting that their trust motivates him to serve with greater dedication.
He assured that his new role will not affect his duties as MP but will provide a platform to further champion the interests of his constituents while ensuring Miri and Sarawak receive due attention in national tourism and cultural development plans.
Chiew called on all parties to support the Madani Government’s efforts in developing a sustainable, inclusive, and competitive tourism industry for the nation’s progress and the well-being of the rakyat.
