Sultan of Pahang arrives in Sarawak for three-day official visit
by Samuel Aubrey · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Aug 20): Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah arrived here today for a three-day official visit to Sarawak.
His Majesty arrived at Kuching International Airport at about 11.45am aboard a special aircraft and was received by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
Also present to welcome Al-Sultan Abdullah were Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, and Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit director Datu Hamdan Sharbini.
Al-Sultan Abdullah attended a state dinner last night with Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Tomorrow, His Majesty is scheduled to travel to Telok Melano to perform Friday prayers and officiate the Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Mosque.
The mosque holds special significance for Al-Sultan Abdullah, who officiated its groundbreaking ceremony on Sept 13, 2023 while serving as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Following the ceremony, His Majesty is scheduled to plant a Bauhinia purpurea sapling at the mosque grounds before visiting Telok Melano beach and posing for photographs at the 0.00 point of the Pan Borneo Highway.
Al-Sultan Abdullah is scheduled to depart Kuching for Pahang aboard a special aircraft Saturday.
