SBF explores Slovak cooperation in waste and water management

KUCHING (Sept 23): The Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) is exploring potential cooperation with Slovakian counterparts in waste and water management, including technology for deposit return schemes and flash flood prediction.

This was discussed during an engagement session led by SBF president Dato Jonathan Chai with Slovak Ambassador to Malaysia Peter Spišiak on Tuesday.

The session also brought together representatives from SBF member associations, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, while Spišiak was accompanied by the embassy’s Economic Affairs Officer Natalia Furdova.

SBF, in a statement, said the engagement provided an opportunity to exchange views on potential areas of business cooperation between Sarawak and Slovakia.

“Discussions centred on potential areas of business cooperation in waste management and water management, including the Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) IT System by Sensoneo, an end-to-end system designed to support DRS operations, and the Flash Flood Prediction and Prevention System (FLOPRES) for water management,” said SBF.

SBF noted that participants exchanged views on the systems and explored potential avenues for knowledge exchange and collaboration, particularly in areas relevant to industry and community needs in Sarawak.

“SBF looks forward to maintaining engagement with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic and supporting further connections between businesses and relevant stakeholders in Sarawak and Slovakia,” it said.
