LUNDU (Nov 18): The ‘Shape Your Future #FitFinances 3.0’ programme, organised by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) in collaboration with the Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK), concluded on Saturday at the Pusat Latihan Kenegaraan Sampadi here.

The programme involved 150 students from Kolej Vokasional across Sarawak, providing them exposure to financial management education and highlighting the importance of takaful protection.

Now in its third edition since its inception in 2022, the programme has toured all regions nationwide.

This year, the series had gone to Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, and Sarawak, engaging a total of 565 Kolej Vokasional students.

Sarawak was chosen to host the closing ceremony of the ‘Shape Your Future #FitFinances 3.0’ programme for 2024.

The event was officiated by deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Anielia Siam, who represented the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

Also in attendance were Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, MTA chief executive officer; and Azaddin Ngah Tasir, chief executive officer of AKPK.

Throughout the programme, the participants engaged in various activities such as financial simulations, speaker sessions, a treasure hunt, and fitness activities.

Additionally, the vocational students received consistent guidance over a set period to ensure sustained learning and support.

“The Shape Your Future #FitFinances 3.0 initiative aims to create a lasting impact on participants and the broader community.

“We hope that students would not only gain strong financial management skills for themselves, but also serve as ambassadors to share this knowledge with their peers, families, and their local communities,” said Mohd Radzuan in his speech at the closing ceremony.

The programme is part of MTA’s collaboration with AKPK under the ‘Takaful4All’ campaign, which seeks to expand awareness of the value and importance of takaful protection.

It also aligns with the Financial Education Network’s Financial Literacy Month initiative by Bank Negara Malaysia.

As part of the Financial Literacy Month, MTA has been conducting various financial literacy programmes across Sarawak. These include such as ‘Takaful Masuk Kampung’ initiative held at Kampung Samariang Batu, Kuching, on Nov 10, 2024, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof.

MTA also officially launched the Kenyalang Chapters on Saturday, marking a significant step in strengthening its presence and engagement in the region.

MTA will participated in the Karnival Celik Kewangan at Vivacity Megamall Kuching on Nov 15-17.

The event featured the ‘Takaful4All Fun Run’ on Nov 17, with a range of activities aimed at strengthening financial literacy among the local community.
