JPJ Bintulu cracks down on luxury vehicles over road tax, insurance offences
by Ambrose Rirang · Borneo Post OnlineBINTULU (Dec 19): The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bintulu seized several luxury vehicles during an ‘Ops Kenderaan Mewah’ enforcement operation carried out here on Wednesday.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, JPJ Sarawak said the operation was conducted by the JPJ Bintulu Operations Unit through routine patrols and monitoring in and around the Bintulu town area.
The operation was led by Chief Enforcement Assistant Officer Bahamin Amit, assisted by three personnel from the JPJ Bintulu Operations Unit, with the objective of ensuring compliance with road laws, particularly among luxury vehicle owners.
“As a result of the operation, several luxury vehicles were detained and subsequently seized by the JPJ Bintulu Operations Unit,” it said.
Inspections found that the vehicles had committed offences such as having expired road tax and lacking valid insurance coverage.
JPJ Sarawak reminded all road users to ensure that their vehicles have valid road tax and insurance before being driven on public roads.
