New temporary evac centre opens at SMK Sebauh as flood situation shifts in Bintulu

BINTULU (Jan 11): A new temporary evacuation centre (PPS) has been opened at Dewan SMK Sebauh following ongoing flooding in the district.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), as of 4pm today, a total of 35 evacuees from 12 households from Rumah Eyus Sungai Sengam and Kampung Hilir have been relocated to the newly opened centre.

Meanwhile, Dewan Suarah Bintulu continues to accommodate flood victims, with the number of evacuees there increasing to 235 people from 85 households.

The number of evacuees at Balai Raya Sebauh decreased to 147 people from 51 households.

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas in Bintulu and Sebauh have been advised to remain vigilant as weather conditions remain unpredictable.

Flood monitoring and relief operations are ongoing, with the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM), together with other agencies, continuing to provide assistance to affected communities.
