Food delivery rider killed in three-vehicle crash in Permyjaya
by Cindy Lai · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (April 4): A food delivery rider was killed in a head-on collision involving a pick-up truck and two motorcycles at Jalan Indah 2, Permyjaya here on Friday evening.
Miri District police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah in a statement on Saturday said the fatal accident, which occurred at approximately 6.30pm, involved a 45-year-old pick-up driver and two local male motorcyclists aged 21 and 32.
“Based on preliminary investigations at the scene, the pick-up driver was travelling from his workplace at Kuala Baram to his home in Desa Pujut 2, Permyjaya. Upon reaching Jalan Indah 2, the driver was believed to have entered the opposite lane and collided with the two motorcycles.
“One of the motorcyclists was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second motorcyclist, who is also a food delivery rider, and the driver did not sustain any injuries,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Mohd Farhan called on members of the public with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Nor Afifah Norsin at 019-526 4640 or 085-430 479, or any nearby police station.
He also reminded road users to always practise cautious driving and comply with all traffic regulations to avoid endangering others.
